Project Overview:

Portable Buildings of Alberta is a locally owned company that designs, builds, and delivers high-quality portable and modular structures across the province. They approached Lucas James Creative to implement a comprehensive SEO strategy aimed at improving search visibility, driving qualified leads, and showcasing their full range of building solutions across Alberta. Following this, we modernized and optimized their website to support user experience and expand product pages—allowing for multiple first-page rankings across key search terms.

What We Found

Weak Site Structure & On-Page SEO

The website had all of its products listed on a single page, with missing titles, meta descriptions, and internal links. This structure made it nearly impossible to target specific product keywords or establish a clear content hierarchy. Thin content and confusing navigation further limited both search rankings and user engagement.

Missed Growth Opportunities

The site lacked dedicated location pages and a defined multi-location strategy, which meant it wasn’t capturing traffic from surrounding service areas. The outdated design also created poor conversion paths—visitors couldn’t easily find what they needed, resulting in low engagement and lost leads.

Minimal Citations & Backlinks

There were few high-quality local directory listings or structured citations, and existing backlinks offered little topical relevance or authority. With such a limited digital footprint, the business struggled to compete in local organic search results.

The initial goal was to increase their exposure for product keywords in their local area and compete with the usual suspects like Home Depot, Lowes, Canadian Tire and some local suppliers like Premier Sheds.

To make sure our content spoke directly to the client’s audience—their needs, challenges, and goals—we focused on three core areas: strategic keyword research, targeted content creation, and high-quality link building.

As the project moved along we also incorporated a multi-location strategy and increased the number of products on offer.

Although much of SEO revolves around great content and strong backlinks, we also knew that local SEO would play a key role in driving real results. That meant ensuring Portable Buildings of Alberta’s Google Business Profile was fully optimized and aligned with their website.

For us, optimizing a GBP isn’t just about having it live—it’s about accuracy and consistency. We made sure the business was listed under the correct categories, every detail was complete and up to date, and that the profile mirrored the information and messaging on their site. From there, we built momentum through regular posts, review generation, citation building, and structured website schema to strengthen local visibility.

Local business growth can happen in two ways—by increasing sales within your existing market or by expanding into new areas. For Portable Buildings of Alberta, growth came through expansion. We supported this by creating dedicated location pages and setting up individual Google Business Profiles for each new branch. These pages play a crucial role in strengthening local search visibility, helping each location rank in its specific area and attract nearby customers searching for their services.

The results were immediate—leads and phone calls started coming directly from the listing, helping the company grow from a single location to three thriving ones across Alberta.

The initial site audit confirmed our suspicions that on-page SEO was the primary first step required in the SEO strategy. Initially, the site had all the products on the same page, and we knew this would have to change, so we could target specific keywords on each product page. Although this site isn’t a true e-commerce site, the various products (sheds) needed their own page.

Over the first few months, we set out to create a product page for each product and to optimize the home page for the main keywords. This included a slight redesign to freshen up the pages and give them more of a pop.

Massive Increase in Website Traffic

Within the first three months, website traffic jumped from an average of 10–20 visitors per month to over 400. This growth came directly from improved on-page SEO and optimized product pages targeting specific search terms.

Higher Search Visibility for Key Products

By creating dedicated product pages and optimizing on-page content, the site began ranking for a wide range of targeted product keywords—making it easier for customers to find exactly what they were looking for.

Real Business Impact

The improved visibility and user experience led to a significant boost in leads and sales, helping the company convert search traffic into paying customers and fuelling ongoing growth.

We added a total of 20 additional pages to their website, including 13 product pages, 3 location pages, 6 resource pages and a full product gallery, which means they are now ranking for more specific keywords in google.

A company’s digital footprint plays a major role in SEO success. At Lucas James Creative, we understand that strong local search results come from three key pillars—a healthy, well-optimized website, high-quality content, and authoritative backlinks.

Once the new website was complete, we focused on strengthening Portable Buildings of Alberta’s online presence through local citations on reputable directories and business listing sites. These citations helped reinforce consistency and trust across the web.

In tandem, we began building strategic backlinks, carefully selecting relevant websites and placing links within meaningful content. This approach not only increased the site’s authority but also improved its topical relevance—boosting visibility where it matters most.

The impact of our combined SEO campaign and web development for Portable Buildings of Alberta has been outstanding. Today, the website receives over 1,000 clicks and 35,000 impressions per month, a reflection of the strong foundation built through strategic optimization and consistent growth efforts.

The site now ranks in the top 10 for more than 400 local keywords and holds top 3 positions for over 150 of those terms—driving steady, qualified traffic and high-intent leads from across Alberta. These results showcase how a well-structured website, paired with an ongoing SEO strategy, can create lasting visibility, authority, and measurable business growth.
